On your search for the Baslow herd here you'll have passed this huge tower of #gritstone #eaglestone but did you know this?

The age-old custom is that before they are allowed to marry, the young men of Baslow have to prove their manliness and fitness for marriage by climbing onto the top of this huge stone. There is no easy way up because some of the higher parts of the stone overhang the lower parts.

Every time I pass this rock some guys are always climbing it so plenty of weddings it seems 😉

I went out that morning not actually sure what I wanted to shoot. I took the morning as it came. As I passed this rock there was a couple of tents set up at one side. The sun was starting to appear so I quickly set up for these shots from the other side.
